1992

Diesel-electric drive system for the environment
VÖGELE wins the Innovation Award and the "Blue Angel" award for its SUPER 1800 DE. This paver with diesel-electric drive system consumes 50% less fuel, generates 50% fewer emissions and carries only 5% of the normal quantity of hydraulic fluid previously required. What's more, it emits between 12 and 29 dB(A) less noise than its predecessors. With all its design features, the paver meets the highest standards of road construction quality, cost-efficiency, operator convenience and environmental protection.

Innovative and ecological advances
The SUPER 2500 conquers the market. VÖGELE's new flagship once again proves that innovation and eco-friendliness can go hand in hand. Capable of paving layers up to 16 m wide and 40 cm thick without joints, this powerful machine already complies with future EU standards covering noise levels and exhaust gas emissions. Its tremendous power means that the SUPER 2500 can be found in particular on major job sites such as highways and airport runways, both in Germany and abroad.

The first spray paver from VÖGELE
The SUPER 1800 SF is the first spray paver launched by VÖGELE. For the first time in the history of road construction, the emulsion for bonding the layers can be applied together with the asphalt in a single pass. In order to accommodate the emulsion tank and spray equipment, the chassis and undercarriage are made longer than on the basic SUPER 1800 model. The spray equipment is located behind the crawler tracks, directly in front of the augers, and comprises two, 2.5 m-wide spray bars arranged in parallel one behind the other. The additional power required by this paver is supplied by a higher-output engine and a larger hydraulic system.

1996

VÖGELE joins the WIRTGEN GROUP
JOSEPH VÖGELE AG is integrated in the WIRTGEN GROUP in September 1996. In addition to WIRTGEN and VÖGELE, the WIRTGEN GROUP also includes the road construction machinery companies HAMM AG (since 2000), KLEEMANN GmbH (since 2006) and BENNINGHOVEN GmbH & Co. KG (since 2014). The shared business model is based on collaboration with system partners and contracted dealers, as well as the Group's own customer service provided through 55 service and sales companies worldwide.

Intelligent road construction machine
VÖGELE launches the RoadRobot, developed on the basis of the SUPER 1800 DE in collaboration with the Mechatronics Center Aachen, Germany. The RoadRobot can navigate independently, maintain the set direction of travel and automatically complete every step from the roadbase to the finished pavement. It incorporates cutting-edge technology in the fields of navigation, process control and data transfer. The navigation system with screed width control used in the RoadRobot is the precursor of today's Navitronic.

1999

Uninterrupted paving
Specially developed to supply road pavers with material, the MT 1000 is the first material feeder to permit uninterrupted paving, even on large projects, thus assuring perfect pavement quality and maximum laydown rates. The material feeder's receiving hopper equipped with push-rollers ensures that material is rapidly transferred from the feed vehicle into the feeder. All feeder functions are driven hydraulically.

The advent of a new user-friendly concept
The SUPER 1900 and SUPER 2100 are launched. Their entirely digital control system makes it possible to adjust the height of the augers and hydraulically actuate the front of the material hopper even while paving is in progress. During the design process, particular importance is attached to the ergonomically designed operator's platform. The paver operator's workplace features an excellent all-around view of the material hopper, auger tunnel and screed. Heated ergonomic seats on the right and left-hand sides can be swiveled out over the edge of the platform in one swift move to give a perfect view of the roadway edge. The pivot-mounted paver operator's console can be shifted both crosswise and lengthwise. An optional hardtop with hinged sides, all-around paneling and a windscreen ensure that the paver operator is well protected even in inclement weather.
